#KuchPalOffline With Ayushmann Khurana

When McDonald’s came up with their campaign #KuchPalOffline, my dad was the happiest. He hates to see us glued to our cellphones and iPads. He even used to confiscate our cellphones and keep it in a drawer. What McDonald’s did, was actually come up with something innovative and fun that made people keep their cellphones away while having a good meal together. You should definitely go to an outlet to experience it.

It is also interesting how Hindustan Times also came up with something similar, #NoTVDay – giving couch potatoes a chance to explore something out of the (idiot) box. McDonald’s thought of partnering with Hindustan Times, to have a fun day for the kids of the St Cathrine of Siena’s Orphanage. I was delighted to be a part of this day out! It was great to know that Ayushmann Khurana was also going to be there to spend some quality time with the kids.

To be honest I never knew how I was going to handle the afternoon heat but it was worthwhile. When we reached there, the kids were all ready and excited. Everyone donned the McDonald’s crown and they were impatiently waiting for their favourite star to reach the venue. The McDonald’s team had very neatly set the Happy Meals and Coke for everyone present there. We even had Ronald McDonald cracking jokes and dancing with a few kids.

Soon Ayushmann made his grand entry. The kids were so excited to see him that they all swarmed him on stage. He looked very happy to be with the kids and even took up a guitar to sing. I must say, there were a lot of smiling faces when he started singing “Paani Da.” The kids joined in with him. He took a lot of selfies with the kids. He was really patient to make sure he clicked pictures with each of his fans. I happened to bump into an acquaintance whose daughter carried along a  special card that she made for him and a copy of Ayushmann‘s book – Cracking the Code: My Journey in Bollywood, to get it autographed. He and Ronald McDonald distributed Happy Meals and drinks to the kids, they surely loved munching on their favourite burgers.

It was a day spent well. It was nice to see a celebrity join hands with HT and McDonald’s for the cause of spreading the awareness about how we shouldn’t get addicted to our smart phones or TVs and to also spend quality time, kuch pal offline, to share joy and happiness with these kids.
